The Origin of a Double Doodle
Based on the research, the Double Doodle has been around since the 1970’s and 1980’s, with the goal to mix two of the most intelligent, friendliest, and hypoallergenic breeds into one. It is a mixed breed of 3 popular purebred dogs, the Labrador Retriever, the Poodle, and the Golden Retriever. All of which carry different traits, personalities and temperaments.
Traditionally, Double Doodles have been referred to as only a Goldendoodle, and Labradoodle mixed together. Though recently there have been more breeders referring to a Double Doodle as a dog that is mixed with two doodle types.

But Double Doodles specifically are popular for having a really calm, and patient demeanor. As well as having a gentle nature when they are dealing with family, children, friends, or even other animals. Double Doodles are really high-energy dogs that will need a lot of mental, and physical stimulation.
But the good news is that much of this energy can be exerted by only taking them on regular walks, and allowing them to meet other dogs. Double Doodle dogs will love going on trips to the dog park, spending time outside with family, or staying busy with outdoor activities. This means that if you want to bring your Double Doodle, it would be best for your dog living in larger spaces. Apartments are able to be suitable for your Double Doodles. Because of their hybrid nature, they are going to vary depending on their parentage, and which direction their genetics lean towards. When fully grown, the Double Doodle dogs are medium-sized dogs that will stand approximately 20-29 inches tall, and weigh between 50-80 pounds. We get information that their coat is classified as medium-long, and extremely dense, usually coming in a black, brown, cream, or white coloration. Double Doodle Exercise Requirements
As explained above, the Double Doodle dogs are known for being very active, and playful in nature. This means that Double Doodle dogs are most well-suited for environments which can offer them large spaces to run around, or the time to explore the outdoors. It is very ideal if the Double Doodle dog has a large yard to run around in, or can be taken on regular walks. It is highly recommended that Double Doodle dogs receive at least 1 hour a day of moderate exercise.
Need to note that this exercise becomes extremely crucial with all high-energy dogs. If you hold the ability for your Double Doodle to release their pent-up energy, then they will have to exert it in other ways, likely negative. If high-energy dogs are not cared for properly, then behavioral issues and disobedience will arise. Please do not be fooled by the small size of the Double Doodle, these Double Doodle dogs are going to need a lot of time, effort, and attention to keep up with their own physical demands.
Health and Lifespan of a Double Doodle
Double Doodle dogs are really high-energy, and they are usually classified as medium-sized dogs, so you will be surprised by how much these dogs can eat. It is highly recommended to feed a fully-grown Double Doodle dog around 2-3 cups a day of dry food. Keep in mind that the amount of food required by the dog will depend on the age of the dog, as well as their size.
Because this is a hybrid breed, Double Doodle dogs are likely to not suffer as much from the same genetic issues that their purebred have to face. Instead, the variation within their gene pools will help them to live much healthier lives.
Also, it is very crucial to note that Double Doodle dogs can sometimes illustrate several genetic deficiencies, such as joint or digestive issues. For instance, foods which are high in fat can worsen the digestive problem that Poodles are known to have, like pancreatitis and hemorrhagic gastroenteritis. The good news is that these hybrids are really healthy in general, and when cared for properly they are able to live up to 12-15 years.
