How is the Medium Goldendoodle Breed?

Medium Goldendoodles are bred using two Goldendoodles as opposed to two purebreds. These multigenerational Goldendoodles allow the breeder to breed down to the desired size overtime. The breeders who attempt to shortcut this process can use a Golden Retriever and a mini poodle in the hopes that they are going to get a medium Goldendoodle. This breeding practice usually ends up resulting in a litter with a wide range of sizes. It means that your medium sized dog may end up being a big dog or a mini dog.

It is very crucial to take the time to breed down a dog in size for avoiding structural defects in the future generations. Typically, structural defects include having a body shape which is out of proportion. An example of this case is a dog with short legs compared to their own body. Remember that the dogs with disproportionately long backs are prone to back injuries.

For those who prefer to have an F1 Goldendoodle, usually several breeders are going to try to use a Moyen Poodle to breed to a small Goldendoodle. For note: Moyen poodles are between the standard Poodle and the mini-Poodle in size. But they have the standard Poodle personality. We get information that original Moyen Poodles were discovered in Europe. However, several breeders are importing them to the United States. The AKC (American Kennel Club) does not recognize the Moyen Poodle. You have to beware of the breeders that cross a mini and standard poodle to make a medium sized poodle. Potentially, they are going to have the same structural issues as we explain above.

In addition, their medium build means that they are sturdy around the kids but not too big to run small children over. Depending on the breeding, medium Goldendoodles can be more relaxed as compared to a mini Goldendoodle.

Do Medium Goldendoodle Dogs Bark a Lot?

The answer to this question will depend on how they are bred. Medium Goldendoodles that are bred using a mini poodle are going to have the tendency to bark more than one that is bred with a Moyen or small standard poodle. It is because the mini poodle does not have the same personality as the larger poodles. Mini Poodles have the tendency to bark. Also, F1b Goldendoodles that are a cross-back to the mini poodle will be more likely to bark too.

How Much Exercise Does a Medium Goldendoodle Dog Need?

You have to know that both the Golden Retriever and poodle are high energy dogs, mainly in their first few years. Goldens are recognized to keep their playful ways until 8 or 9 years old. Even though they have to stop getting into trouble by two or three years old. Poodles really love attention and will try their best to keep you entertained.

Daily walks and interactive playtime several times a day are a must for these energetic puppies. Remember that all dogs are different. You need to figure out what is the right amount to exercise for your puppy. Look for the clues. Usually, a tired dog will be reluctant to bring the ball all the way back to you or they are going to be slow to get up when called.
